Success at the Grand Designs Show

Thursday, 7 May 2009

Fair trade furniture company Myakka received an outstanding number of orders last week while they exhibited at the 10 day Grand Designs Show from 25th April to 4th May.

Being primarily an online retailer, the Grand Designs Show enabled customers country-wide to visit Myakka at Excel, London. The show was a huge success and offered a fantastic opportunity to showcase products and get valuable feedback from visitors who were new to the Myakka brand.

“Being able to see, touch and experience our products first hand is so important,” explains Georgie Hopkins, director for Myakka. “We also learned that a lot of people didn’t realise that Indian furniture was what they were looking for. They simply knew they wanted quality, handmade furniture made from solid wood with an excellent finish.”

Myakka had a stunning display in the interior section with a range of Sheesham and Acacia wood furniture, soft furnishings and accessories on display for visitors to walk round, sit on and explore. Many people identified with the products and could see how they could easily fit into their homes.

During every day of the show, Myakka held a competition to give away a set of Contemporary Nest of Tables worth £89, including free mainland UK delivery. Over one thousand visitors entered the competition to win this best selling nest of tables and the ten lucky winners have now been notified.

The Grand Designs Show offer companies the chance to showcase new products and services. Myakka used the show to launch new table lamps from India and northern Thailand and received very positive feedback about the lamps and a few orders.
