IndiAbility Games and SKSN School

Regular readers of the blog will know that we support SKSN School in Jodhpur, India through charitable donations and active trade.  Simon and Alexandra visited SKSN again during their visit to Jodhpur last week and were caught up in the great excitement of the forthcoming IndiAbility games.

.

The whole school is preparing to welcome 1500 children from across Rajasthan come to compete in the IndiAbility games which encourage both able-bodied and physically challenged children to come together and compete in sports such as cricket, athletics, badminton and yoga.

.

The games are organised by the IMAGE (Indian Mixed Ability Group Events) programme which is funded by the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation.  Laureus is a foundation that promotes the use of sport as a tool for social change and celebrates sporting excellence.  IMAGE was founded five years ago and runs nine after school clubs with children from 18 schools from across Rajasthan.  The initial IMAGE club was is SKSN school and now has more than two hundred 8-12 year olds from the school enrolled and regularly taking part.

.

The aim of the project is to try and change community attitudes towards those with disabilities and build relationships between the two parts of the community.  IMAGE also helps to form relationships between parents of disabled children who can support and help each other.  The games are timed in conjunction with the commonwealth games currently being held in Delhi and will be attended by special guests and Laureus members, Baroness Tami Grey-Thompson and Kapil Dev.

.

This is naturally a huge event for SKSN School to set up and co-ordinate and all at Myakka wish them every success for the two day event!

  1. This is a noble goal. Such children are in need of a good teacher. I recently gave a speech at a conference on the protection of minors. On this site uk essay writing services there are excellent professionals who have helped me to make a presentation. And the psychology of children is a huge ocean. Therefore, an adult can get lost in it.
