Our guide to finding your perfect TV Unit

Wednesday, 18 May 2011

With many TVs looking ultra modern it can be nice to keep a traditional solid wood TV stand to tie in with the rest of your living room furniture.   We has a range of over seven different options to both suit your decor and support your new prized purchase.

If you have gone ultra large with your TV, our Mallani Widescreen TV Cabinet is the ideal choice. Measuring 140cm in width it is wide enough to accommodate the largest widescreen. With there open shelves for all your electrical paraphernalia and two cupboards at either end this unit is perfect for any one who collects lots of DVDs.

If you need a unit large enough to take your widescreen but want something a bit more subtle then our Mallani TV Console is may be just what you need. Measuring 130cm in width, it is wide enough to accommodate the largest flat screen but it only 40cm tall so sits neatly in your room.  This unit has a long open shelf which offers plenty of room to hold your digital box and DVD player and also includes two storage drawers for all your DVDs and other TV paraphernalia.

The Mallani Low Level TV Unit is a slightly smaller alternative which is also suitable for widescreen TVs with two neat drawers for your DVDs and CDs.  The wide shelf is perfect for your digital equipment and DVD player and has an open back to make cable management simple.

If you have a lot of electrical equipment and need enough shelf space to deal with it all then the Mallani Tall TV Unit may be perfect. With three shelves to accommodate your DVD player, digi box/sky box and games console this unit is the ideal choice.

If you’re looking for something with softer lines then the Chandra TV Unit may be the ideal solution. With a large open shelf and two roomy drawers complete with moon shape drawer handles. This piece has a quiet ability to make modern electrickery look more comfortable at home.

If space is an issue a corner TV unit might be more useful and Myakka have three different and equally popular options in the Mallani, Khimsar and Thakat range ensuring there is one to suit your personal taste.  All three feature an open shelf for your digital box and the Mallani Corner TV and the Khimsar Corner TV units both feature a handy storage cupboard with the Thakat Corner TV unit having a practical drawer designed to fit DVDs.

If you are looking for something that is a bit more traditional our Portcullis TV Cabinet may be right up your street, with intricate iron work detailing on the front this is a real show stopper.  The unit features a large storage cupboard to hide away your entertainment library and an open shelf for your digital equipment.

Another unit which is a little more decorative is the Hathi TV Unit. With 4 hand carved elephant panels is the cupboard door and two shelves adjacent, this unit makes high tech living blend effortlessly with your living space.

Similar in size, the classic Khimsar TV Unit is a beautifully proportioned piece hand crafted in Acacia hard wood finished with brushed aluminium handles.  It includes an open back shelf for easy cable management and a cupboard for all your TV accessories.

If richly grained Sheesham and Acacia wood isn’t to your taste how about our Pali TV Unit made from the more mellow Mango wood. This tall unit has a large to surface and open shelf for all your electrical items and a cupboard below with two useful drawers for tidying away all your DVDs and other paraphernalia.

For a more flexible approach, our storage coffee tables may be the ideal solution.  Available in both the Mallani and Khimsar ranges, these coffee tables also make ideal TV units as they have two shelves for storing your digital equipment and four useful drawers designed to fit DVDs and CDs which open from either side.  The Mallani Storage Coffee Table and Khimsar Storage Coffee Table are both 110cm wide which also makes them suitable for widescreen TVs.

Most important is to consider the size of the unit you choose – you need to ensure you have enough space for all the additional essentials such as digibox and DVD player and easy cable management through open back shelves or dedicated channels is a must.  All of Myakka’s solid hard wood TV units are sturdy and strong to comfortably support even the heaviest of widescreen TVs.  At the end of the day you have to love your TV unit as much as your TV as you are likely to spend a lot of time looking at it.
