Production of the next Myakka catalogue is now well underway. It always starts with a week’s photography of both new products and some of our favourite existing products. Preparations start in November when the new samples begin to arrive at Myakka HQ. From there we have many discussions about what makes it into our range for Spring and which items need a some more development. Once decided on the finished items we then have the task of taking photographs of them. It is always our aim to keep the furniture as real as possible when taking photographs so the furniture in your home looks just like the furniture in our catalogue and online.
This December photography took place in Belmont House, a large house just outside Salisbury, Wiltshire which is about an hour away from us here at Myakka. The weather the whole week was freezing cold so it was a real struggle trying to give the images a spring like feel and to try and keep our fingers from freezing. However the cold had it rewards, we took advantage of a frosty morning and got a great Christmassy image ready for winter 2013.
We used photographer David McDowall for the third time this year so we were able to get into the swing of things pretty quickly. At the beginning of the week it always seems like a massive task to get all the images we needed in such a short space of time but the team worked hard with some early mornings and late nights to get some great shots. Some of the pictures look like they were taken in the sunny Mediterranean, you would never know it was a below freezing day in England!
Despite the schedule the team managed to find a little time to relax and enjoy lunch as well as a quick photo of Georgie and David in some deer heads they found in the house! There were also lots of chickens in the gardens which would follow you around the house and stare through the window, they took a particular liking to our Creative Manager Natalie and would peck on the glass at her as she worked.
Our design and creative team is now hard at work putting together the new catalogue. The Spring catalogue will be ready early March and should be arriving through your letter box then. If you’re not already on our mailing list and would like to receive a copy of our catalogue simply click here.
