Create the Perfect Guest Bedroom in 7 Easy Steps

One of the best things about Christmas is meeting up with all your friends and family. This can mean that the (often neglected) spare room gets a little more use than usual and may need a little bit of TLC to make it a home-from-home for your guests. We have come up with seven easy steps to make sure your spare room is inviting and comfortable for all your guests.

Step 1 – A comfy bed
An essential for any bedroom. After a long day travelling, eating and socialising there is nothing better than getting into a comfy bed for a lovely long sleep. This Stonemill Bed is made from solid reclaimed pine and is designed to last a lifetime. With its timeless style, it will suit any décor and provide the perfect rest for a sleepy visitor.

Step 2 – Storage
Having somewhere for your visitors to unpack their luggage is a really easy way to make them feel at home. With space for storage at a premium, a bedside cabinet with drawers won’t take up too much floor space but provides useful storage. The Mallani Cabinet is the perfect height for a bedside and provides three useful drawers storage.

Step 3 – Warm and Cosy
Make your guests as comfy as possible by adding coordinating cushions and bedspread to the bed. Choose warm, comfortable fabrics such as cotton and rich colours to make their stay super luxurious and cosy. Our Indigo Elephant Quilt and matching cushions are the perfect choice for both comfort and style and will bring a smile to your guests' faces thanks to the cheerful elephant print.

Step 4 – Create a calming atmosphere
Everyone can feel a little frazzled over the Christmas period so choose some clever lighting to make your guest room a restful retreat. A bedside lamp can also make a room feel more cosy, with the addition of some of your favourite books to help your visitors feel right at home. We have a great selection of lamps and lighting, but one of our favourites is the Pair of Oceana Pearl Table Lamps, the perfect addition to any bedside table.

Step 5 – Personal Touches
Picture frames and photos really do make the room feel more loved and lived in. A few photo frames with your favourite images are bound to make your visitor smile. Our Sheesham Photo Frames look great with any style of décor and will frame your most treasured images perfectly.

Step 6 – Relaxing Scent
To help create a relaxing ambience, a Scented Reed Diffuser or scented candle is a great way to make your spare room feel fresh and welcoming. A reed diffuser releases scented oils gently in to your room for a constant and subtle aroma. We have a range of eight different scents such as Bluebell and Citrus & Lemongrass. Scented candles are also a great way to give a room a lovely scent and they look so pretty when lit. Our Large Scented Candles are available in eight fragrances - the Orange, Clove & Cinnamon smells just like Christmas! Why not pair with a  Hurricane Curved Candle Holder to create the perfect warming glow with a welcoming scent.

Step 7 – Refreshments
It’s the little touches that make the difference. No one likes to have to go down to the kitchen in the middle of the night for a drink so why not provide a carafe or bottle of water and some glasses? Our recycled glass range has all you need for your guests, the Recycled Glass Bottle and Set of 4 Rainbow Glass Tumblers will help keep your visitors hydrated and fresh.
