Tips for a Welcoming Guest Bedroom

Tuesday, 7 November 2017

Expecting visitors this festive season? Time to tackle the guest bedroom and get it ticked off your list early and feel great! In order to help you prepare, here’s a handy checklist to help you and your guests sleep easy…

The Right Bed & Mattress

To begin with, make sure the bed frame or divan, and mattress, are in a good state and can offer your guests comfort. Often our guest rooms can become dumping grounds, so start to clear away the clutter. Then take a good look at the bedstead, headboard, and mattress and check they are in a good state. Our solid wood bed frames and headboards are sturdily constructed from ethically sourced hardwoods. Plus, they'll last a lifetime with good care.

Natural Mattresses

Our mattress collection makes the perfect addition to any bedroom. Covered in Egyptian cotton and constructed with hand nested pocket springs, there are three levels of comfort for your perfect night’s sleep. Handcrafted in the UK exclusively for Myakka using sustainable materials, our natural mattresses coordinate perfectly with our selection of UK sized bed frames. Your ideal choice for a guest bedroom, our Comfort Mattress has 1400 individual pocket springs each hand nested within soft cotton, finished with side-stitching. Additionally, they're available in Double (135x190cm) or King Size (150x200cm).

20% Off Myakka’s Natural Mattresses*

We're offering Myakka customers 20% off any natural mattress when they order a bed, headboard or bedroom bundle. The 20% discount will be applied at the checkout.

Plenty of Drawer & Wardrobe Space

No-one wants to live out of a suitcase! Create some hanging and drawer space to allow your visitors to really get settled in. Not only handsome looking, our wardrobes are versatile too. The Milborne Wardrobe with its movable shelves makes for versatile hanging and shelf space. However, if you prefer darker wood, opt for our Mallani Two Piece Wardrobe with full width hanging and double drawers.

Relaxing Lighting

A guest bedroom can have all the home comforts you like but with harsh lighting, it’s just not inviting. Our unique collection of table lamps, floor lamps and feature lamps offers a variety of ways to light a sleep space creating a glowing ambience.

Mirror, Mirror, On The Guest Bedroom Wall

The addition of a mirror can give your visitors somewhere to check their special Christmas outfit! Similarly, it also has the potential to perform visual trickery and make the guest room look bigger. Our Mallani Table Top Mirror can be placed on a table or chest of drawers and can be angled to suit.

Scentsational Room Fragrance

Fragrance can influence how your guests experience their temporary home. With this in mind, why not try room diffusers or scented candles to add a subtle scent to this guest space? Our collection of candles and scents includes some seasonal fragrances such as Mulled Pear & Spices, or Orange, Clove & Cinnamon, each adding a hint of Christmas spice to the atmosphere.

Finally, a tip for being a great host...

Depending on how much celebrating you do, it’s also a good idea to get in the hangover remedies too.  Plenty of water, effervescent powders, paracetamol & slap up Boxing Day fry-up should see you and your guests right the next day!

Enjoy your celebrations with your family & friends!
