Following on from our post about Spring Trends last week, today we’re exploring another of those trends; metallic accents.
Metallic accents are a great way of mixing up your home style and adding a luxurious finish to any room. Whilst copper and rose gold have been in the interior limelight for a while, this year brass joins the trend family. From bold pieces of furniture to more subtle accessories, we have plenty of choices to help you recreate this new trend at home.
Myakka’s Favourite Metallic Accents
New for Spring 2018 collection are our Peetal Drum Side Table and Coffee Table. Handmade using traditional Indian techniques, with bases cut with lacy circular patterns, decoratively etched and finished in an antique brass effect. Equally at home in a conservatory living room, study or even a bedroom, and perfect for adding a gorgeously exotic look to any room and displaying your treasures from around the world.
A reflection of style, our Hexagonal Brass Mirror is handcrafted in Honduras. With a lightness of form thanks to its slender hand forged brass frame and delicate chain hanger, the mirror is actually quite large – giving a room extra dimension and impact as it bounces light around. We love it hung alone or as part of a grouping of mirrors, pictures or other wall décor.
Another new-for-Spring product that’s bang on trend is our Tappa Table Lamp. With a high-end designer look, it’s hand-formed from metal wire with a hand-turned mango wood based. Made for Myakka by a fair trade lighting supplier based in Delhi, who distributes work to small artisan groups. Stylish accessories with a feel-good factor? Yes please!
Bee on Trend with Hyve
Of course, we couldn’t forget to mention our brand new Hyve Collection. Featuring hand carved honeycomb details, light-reflecting brass foil accents, round drawer knobs and on-trend hairpin legs, Hyve combines brass with another Spring trend; dark wood. With 7 pieces in the range to choose from, you can mix & match the range or choose one stand-out product. Though our Hyve Collection is new to Myakka, our fair trade working relationship with this north Indian supplier is not; we have been working with the team who handcraft the range for almost two decades.
