Regular readers of our blog will already know that we have been supporting and working with SKSN school in Rajasthan India since January 2008 and it is a cause close to our hearts. This Christmas the Indiability Foundation is part of the big Christmas Challenge which aims to fundraise as much as possible for charities throughout the UK.  SKSN School is part of the Indiability Foundation which works to improve lives of the disabled children in India who often don’t get access to education.

The Big Christmas Challenge is all about match funding any donations  made so SKSN School secures double the amount of donation for their great cause.  So for every £10 donation, this will be matched so that the Indiability Foundation will receive £20. For only £80 you can educate a disabled child at the SKSN for a whole year. To donate to the Indiability Foundation, simply click here.

SKSN School is a residential school for 500 physically challenged children in Rajasthan, Northern India. The school aims to provide education to a high standard for all children right through from primary and secondary school all the way up to higher education and teacher training.

As SKSN developed and grew there was a need for an umbrella organisation to help manage all the different activities. The Indiabilty Foundation was established as a UK and Indian charity to support and work with the School and to work to improve the lives of Disabled Children in India. The Indiability Foundation covers  everything from  education (SKSN School), training (teacher training and sports academy), enterprise (vocational training programmes), wellbeing (sports and healthy living) and outreach (campaigning and educating).

We have been working with and supporting the Indiability Foundation and SKSN school for nearly seven years with regular donations, sourcing and supplying school desks and helping to develop the Vocational Training Centre (VTC).The VTC  teaches a selection of school leaver’s skills that will last a lifetime. Through this young adults are taught seamstress and tailoring skills and through our trade programme make cushions, bedspreads and bags that we are able to sell. These are products are the very essence of fair trade – made using locally sourced, ethical materials, providing well paid, fair trade employment and an enthusiastic setting.

SKSN School and the Indiability Foundation is a cause that we feel very passionate about. So we really appreciate every donation that they receive and with the Big Christmas Challenge and it is great to know that every donation will be matched funded to help double their pot! Christmas is all about give a little something that will help change a child’s life?

The Big Christmas Challenge starts at midday on Friday 4th December and continues until 5pm on Monday 14th December – go get donating now!
