Supporting Wincanton Carnival

Open til late

We are proud to be supporting the Wincanton Carnival which this year takes place on Friday 13th October. Our Warehouse Shop will be open until late for extended shopping & browsing. Plus, we’ll be joining the parade in our Myakka van too! Shoppers should look out for a special carnival offer on the night in the carnival programme and in store.

The Wincanton Carnival is part of the Wessex Grand Prix Carnival circuit made up of nine towns; Mere, Frome, Shaftesbury, Gillingham, Castle Cary, Sturminster Newton, Trowbridge, Wincanton and Warminster. There’s a friendly rivalry between the towns to see who can put on the best show every year.
Carnival clubs and groups often travel afar to parade. Most importantly, they also raise thousands of pounds each year for local charities.

The Carnival has a 400 year history in Somerset.

It all started with bonfires and burning effigies of Guy Fawkes in Bridgwater. Torchlight processions followed thereafter which initiated the tradition of carnival processions & parades which have evolved to the carnivals we know today.

Myakka’s Special Wincanton Carnival Offer

If you’d like to take advantage of our special carnival offer then why not pop in to the shop and pick up a couple of essentials to celebrate the return of the earlier evenings? We have a range of gorgeous scented candles to bring the festive feel to your home. For example, the Orange, Clove & Cinnamon Scented Candle is available in small or large. Therefore, it’s ideal for gifts, or simply for treating yourself!

Or how about adding some underfoot comfort as well as a pop of colour to your living room or bedroom with our Jebel Diamond Berber Rug, which is fairly traded and traditionally woven in India from 80% wool and 20% cotton mix.So if you’re in the area, make sure to give our van a wave and to pop into the shop. We’d love to see you!
