Simon has just returned from a whistle stop tour around Asia to meet with our current suppliers and work with some potential new ones. During the trip, Simon visited India, Thailand and Singapore and whilst there, signed off new furniture and accessory designs in our Mallani, Hathi and Thakat ranges. These samples will arrive in the UK in October and will be featured in our new catalogue in autumn 2014. These trips over to India are really important to us as it means we can work with our suppliers to ensure that the new furniture designs are exactly as we want them. As many of our furniture designs are based on customer requests, we work extra hard to make sure the finished product is exactly what you want.
During his quick tour around Asia, Simon also visited our Surin suppliers in Thailand. We have some lovely new Surin lines on the way which will be ready for our catalogue in the autumn. During this visit Simon was able to collaborate with production to ensure product quality and to enhance the quality control process. Watching the skilled carvers at work is always mesmerising – as they carve beautiful tables and stools from a lump of trunk!
Simon finished off his trip in Singapore by taking in a trade fair where he was able to meet potential new suppliers and get lots of new ideas for new furniture designs and ranges.
We can’t wait for the summer when all the samples start to arrive here at Myakka HQ ready for photography. We love designing new products and it is great to be able to see the whole process from design and manufacture to finally seeing the finished pieces of furniture in the catalogue and then on into customer homes.
