A few weeks ago, as we went through the list of things to do before photography started, we realised that one of the sticking points with styling our shoots is always the flowers. We wanted something that was colourful and pretty and really complimented our furniture. Thankfully Common Farm Flowers came to the rescue!

Run by husband and wife team Georgie and Fabrizio, this small holding (just down the road from us here at Myakka) grows the most amazing flowers ready to be cut and tied into unique and seasonal bouquets and posies.  www.commonfarmflowers.com.  None of the flowers at their farm have ever been treated with chemicals and wildlife is encouraged and thrives there.

Following a brief phone call to Georgie Newbery the flowers were organised and collection was set for the Sunday before the shoot. In total we ordered four bunches of flowers in varying styles and colours. Each one was a beautiful selection of hand cut and tied flowers, the perfect accompaniment for our Sheesham wood furniture.  The flowers were used in a number of images for the new autumn catalogue including for our new round dining table (keep your eyes peeled for September!) and our ever popular Mallani Petite Console Table.

Not only is Georgie busy growing, cutting and preparing bouquets for posting out and collection, but the farm also plays hosts to a number of courses, not only in gardening and flower growing but also things like cooking and social media for Business.  The autumn term list includes compost making, photography, growing your own wedding flowers and Pasta Making. All workshop days at Common Farm include a delicious homemade lunch, lots of tea and cake – and an amazing amount of networking always goes on, so if you book yourself onto a day at Common Farm don’t forget to bring business cards with you!

If you’re interested in ordering a bouquet of hand-tied flowers designed especially for you from Common Farm Flowers or for more information simply go to www.commonfarmflowers.com.  And have a look at the blog too: it’s full of interesting posts, not only about the flowers and gardening, but things such as Bee keeping and marmalade making!

The flowers were perfect for adding a touch of glam to our week long photography session. They were the perfect prop on many occasions and were some of the most beautiful flowers we have ever had the pleasure of working with. A big Myakka thank you to Georgie and Fabrizio for making the bouquets for us from their gardens at Common Farm.
