We will once again be supporting WWF Earth Hour. Earth Hour is an annual event with an aim to get as many people all over the world to turn their lights off at 8.30pm on Saturday 19th March for one hour.

The event is now in its eight year and now includes events taking place in 152 counties with millions of people taking part across the world. For us here in the UK, this year’s focus is on Sustainable food for a sustainable planet. We want to encourage people to celebrate our beautiful planet and eat, order and cook is both healthy for them and the planet.

Earth Hour is the perfect time to spend time with friends and family doing something different. It is the perfect opportunity to have an indoor candle-lit picnic or dinner party or how about a candle lit games evening with friends? For more ideas on how to spend the hour with your lights off visit the Earth Hour website for ideas such as star gazing, having a ‘onesie’ party and instructions on how to make an origami wind turbine.

Whatever you chose to do in your hour without lights make sure you register your participation on the Earth Hour website. There are lots of hints and ideas about how to spend your earth hour as well as well as more information about Earth Hour and the things that we can do to make a difference.

So why not join the Myakka team and millions of other people around the world by turning your lights off for one hour on March 19th at 8.30pm.
