Does your furniture need a bit of TLC now that the festive season is over?  Now is a great time to give your furniture a little care to restore it to its best. Extra visitors and guests in your home often means lots of cups of tea and coffee which can lead to the dreaded ring mark.  Always use coasters when you can but accidents do happen. Don’t worry though – ring marks can be easily removed from your Myakka furniture with our simple step by step guide, some beeswax polish, wire wool and a soft cloth.

We recommend Mylands Traditional Wax Polish for keeping your furniture looking its best. The Antique Mahogany colour is perfect for our Sheesham ranges as the slight colour in the wax will maintain the colour and finish of the Mallani, Thakat, and Hathi collections. The clear wax is perfect for the Surin range as it will maintain the finish but won’t add to the colour. As well as helping to remove ring marks, Mylands Wax is ideal for the general care of your furniture. It feeds the wood and gives your furniture a natural lustre.

If you have any ring marks, or any marks caused by liquid, then follow these steps…

  • Start with a very fine 0000 grade wire wool (the finer the better) and rub the ring mark and surrounding area down. Rub gently in the same direction as the grain of the wood.
  • Once the ring mark has gone, use a soft cloth to apply Mylands Wax to the area, rubbing in a circular motion.
  • Leave for as long as possible, ideally for 20-30 minutes to sink in well and then buff with a soft cloth. This step is really important and this will remove any residue and will give your furniture a nice lustre.
