Christmas is well and truly on its way and the whole Myakka team is starting to get into the Christmas spirit – we have planned our Christmas party and made our meal choice and secret Santa has us whispering in corners trying to make best use of our £5 budget. We thought we would share some of our Christmas traditions both old and new…

Amelia likes to start Christmas morning in style with a champagne breakfast including smoked salmon and scrambled eggs.

Corinna makes the most of the Christmas spirit by making the best of some strategically placed mistletoe!

Every Christmas Eve Orrin gets into the Christmas spirit at a party at his Aunts with all the family and friends and with a festive mulled cider.

Donna starts Christmas morning with pate on toast with a glass of champagne with an added hibiscus flower for an extra touch of decadence. (The flower opens in the bubbles.) Donna and her mum also wear chef hats as the start cooking the Christmas dinner.

Sara’s children all pile into her room Christmas morning to open their stockings. The same thing has been happening for years, no matter how old they get.

Clare and family like to go for a long walk in the Somerset country side after Christmas lunch and then get home and watch all the good Christmas TV – Clare can’t wait for the Downton Christmas Special.

James and his girlfriend have started a new tradition this year of buying each other advent calendars. James was chuffed this year as he got a Lego advent calendar with 25 little Lego pieces.

Debbie encourages the children to go to bed on Christmas Eve night by taking them outside once in their pyjamas to sprinkle some Reindeer food (bird seed and oats) outside ready for Rudolph and friends.

Bryony and her family always go to midnight mass on Christmas Eve to welcome Christmas morning; followed by ‘Operation Turkey’ on Christmas day. This military precision operation includes a list of jobs, instructions and timeframes printed and stuck to the fridge and then ticked off as they’re completed.  – Perfect Christmas dinner every time!

Cherry likes to make the best light display every year with loads of Christmas lights. The display gets bigger and bigger every year and has even started a little bit of friendly neighbour competition.

Rich likes to stuff his turkey on Christmas Eve with his top secret, famous stuffing recipe.

Paul likes to pass down a tradition from his childhood to his children. On Christmas Eve night they hang a pillow case from the end of their bed ready for Father Christmas, in the morning they are full of presents.

Natalie likes to put her tree and decorations up on the first weekend of December and start making all the components of her Christmas hampers including jam, lemon curd and gingerbread men.

However you spend Christmas we hope that you have great day filled with your Christmas traditions and even making some new ones!
