Our exclusive hardwood furniture is designed here in the UK specifically to satisfy the tastes of the British customer. The pieces are manufactured in India using CAD technology and the latest German machinery. Each piece is then finished to exact standards and checked thoroughly through strict quality control systems.
The beautiful native Indian hardwoods used in the construction of our furniture, Sheesham and Acacia wood, are hand waxed to give deep lustrous finishes. Wood as a material naturally moves with changes in the ambient surrounding and at Myakka, we have developed the correct seasoning and construction techniques to ensure this natural trait is minimised in our furniture. We are also currently in the process of validating the origins of the wood used in our furniture to prove it is in compliance with the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council).
To ensure the products we have designed are engineered to the standards we demand, a team from Myakka visit our suppliers in India every six months. These trips are useful for many reasons; progressing new designs into production, checking quality control systems, discussing concept development with the engineers and also working on our community projects. Georgie and Alexandra are currently in India as we write and will be adding some articles to the Myakka Blog on their return.
