One of the new furniture ranges we have introduced this spring is our new Plantation Range. This range is a little different from our other Myakka ranges as it includes pieces in both rattan and sustainably grown Mahogany with a whitewashed finish. The plantation range is mostly produced in Java, Indonesia except for the Moti Ari Upholstered Bench which is made in India.
The Plantation range has a soft whitewashed finish which gives it a relaxed, natural finish. The range is hand made by carpenters in their villages around Java using solid Mahogany and Rattan from managed local plantations. Rattan is a very sustainable material as it is made from Palms which are fast growing and widely available, offering local carpenters an alternative furniture material.
The plantation range is made up of both four wooden pieces and six rattan pieces. The wooden pieces include a tempting Plantation Lazy Chair. With its laid back look which is hand carved with flowing curves, it makes the perfect spot to sit back and relax in, just add a couple of our Kilim Cushions for ultimate comfort. A favourite from the Plantation range is the Plantation Moti Ari Upholstered Bench, made from Mango hardwood in India, this beautiful bench uses recycled wedding saris for the cushioned seat to add a splash of colour and uniqueness, as no two will ever be the same.
The Plantation Shutter Mirror is constructed from solid mahogany and has two closable doors which can be shut when needed. The mirror will add a real colonial touch to any home and would fit so many decors – it reminds us a little of Mediterranean windows and shutters. The Plantation Shutter Screen is a very useful piece. It makes the perfect room divider as well as being a more traditional screen. This makes it perfect for any room in your home, from the bedroom and dressing room to screening off the home office in the living room.
Rattan makes the perfect blanket box, versatile and a little softer on the eye than its solid wood equivalent, the Plantation Rattan Nesting Trunks are the perfect addition to your home. They can store anything from Toys and books, to bedding and linen making them the perfect storage solution for household overspill. A similar storage solution is the Plantation Rattan Buckle Trunk, made with a solid wood frame and with leather buckle detail this trunk is easy to move around so makes it the perfect toy storage solution.
Two other rattan pieces include the Plantation Rattan Vegetable Stand and the Plantation Rattan Coat Rack. The vegetable rack arrives fully assembled and ready to use and is not only perfect for vegetables but would make the perfect bathroom or craft store. The coat rack is the perfect addition to your hallway with four double hooks and a shelf to make light work of coats and other outdoor paraphernalia.
