Myakka has just experienced record breaking sales in the first 4 weeks of 2009!

With many retailers suffering from the economic downturn, it is refreshing to hear some good news. It’s certainly not all doom and gloom on the high street as far as Myakka is concerned. “We are delighted that our Winter Sale has gone so well,” explains Georgie Hopkins, Director of Myakka.
When asked why their sale has been so successful, Georgie replies “In response to the economic climate, we offered a massive discount of 1/3 off our normal prices. Our website was unbelievably busy and we received a increase in order numbers of over 85% through this channel. Over 90% of our products carry our Myakka fair trade mark, so customers know that the products they are buying will also benefit artisans in developing countries.”

The products in demand were high quality, solid wood furniture: dining room tables, beds, chest of drawers, cabinets, chairs and coffee tables.

“Our most popular product is our Sheesham Contemporary Nest of Tables. Everyone simply loves the rustic yet polished finished of the chunky wood. They match with almost any living room decor and offer excellent value for money. We have them at home too!” says Simon Whitehead, Director of Myakka.

With 4 container loads of furniture and hand made fair trade goods on its way to the UK at the moment and a further 8 containers in production, customers don’t need to be concerned about purchasing from Myakka at the moment. “The deliveries will be arriving soon and while we are low on stock for many large furniture items, we still have plenty for customers to buy in store or online,” adds Georgie.

Almost 10,000 customers have signed up to the Myakka newsletter through www.myakka.co.uk so that they can be the first to receive the latest promotional offers and new season products.
