Simon, one of our directors, has just returned from an exciting trip to India visiting our current fair trade furniture suppliers and meeting some new ones. These overseas visits are an important part of our fair trade ethos that we make regular visits to our suppliers so we can ensure that products are being made correctly and that fair trade conditions are being maintained.

New Fair Trade Furniture for Autumn

Simon goes out to India twice a year to visit our suppliers and potential new suppliers. During the visit, Simon works with our suppliers to sign off new designs for the autumn catalogue. This trip also gives him the chance to start working on new designs ready for spring 2018 and beyond.

Lots of new fair trade furniture designs were checked and signed off ready for the Autumn 2017 catalogue. We are adding lots of new pieces to our existing collections including Mallani, Thakat, Jasmeen and Milborne. As well as additions to our furniture collections, there will also be lots of new soft furnishings, accessories and textiles that Simon and Georgie have picked out.

Autumn Catalogue Preparations

We can’t wait for the next few months as all the new samples arrive into Myakka HQ. We all try and sneak a peek at the new bits and pieces as soon as they come in. Then they head off to our lifestyle photography shoots in June. We then become super busy bees, working on our new catalogue and getting all the products ready to launch online.

Here at Myakka, we are very lucky to be able to design all of our furniture ourselves. We see it through from the design process to the first sample, and then through to the finished pieces. If we’re really lucky, some of our customers send us pictures of their new furniture looking great in their homes!

Keep an eye out for our autumn catalogue; it’ll feature lots of the new lines that Simon & Georgie have been developing with our suppliers in India. We are always looking for new ideas for new products to develop and we welcome any requests from customers for new furniture designs. If you have a great idea for a new piece of fair trade furniture, let us know! Get in touch by email (hello@myakka.co.uk) or send us a message on Facebook or Twitter.
