We have long supported Earth Hour and this year is no different. The annual event aims to get as many people all over the world to turn their lights off for one hour. This year, the event will be held at 8.30pm on Saturday 25th March.

The event is now in its tenth year and now includes events taking place in 178 counties with millions of people taking part across the world. From Buckingham Palace to the Sydney Opera House, landmarks and counties around the world take part.

How to Spend Earth Hour

Of course, Earth Hour is the perfect time to spend time with friends and family doing something different. For instance, it’s the perfect opportunity to have an indoor candle-lit picnic or dinner party, or how about a candlelit games evening with friends? We’ve got lots of candles and lanterns available on our website and in our Wincanton Warehouse Outlet. Our Ornate Moroccan Lanterns add both style and gentle lighting to your home when filled with a tealight. Not to mention the fact that they cast wonderfully magical patterns on your walls!

For more ideas on how to spend the hour with your lights off, simply visit the Earth Hour website for ideas such as stargazing, having a barbecue or picnic under the stars or embrace Hygge and snuggle up with your loved ones.

Whatever you choose to do in your hour, make sure you register your participation on the Earth Hour website. There are lots of hints and ideas about how to spend the hour. Plus you’ll find more information about the event and the things that we can do to make a difference.

So why not join the Myakka team in and millions of other people around the world by supporting this cause? Simply turn your lights off for one hour on March 25th at 8.30pm. While you’re at it, join in the conversation on Twitter with hashtag #EarthHourUK #MakeClimateMatter and @wwf_uk.
