Our Kilim range is going from strength to strength and gets bigger every season. We introduced our Ooty Stripe and Red Tribal range with a selection of rugs and cushions and have since introduced footstools, pouffes and now, new benches.

The new Kilim benches are available in a large and small sizes in our two bestselling Kilim designs, Ooty Stripe and Red Tribal. These benches are so versatile and practical, whether as a perch at the end of the bed, in your hallway, or as an occasional chair or footstool. The small Kilim bench will comfortably sit an adult with the large bench being almost double in length to accommodate two.

Another new addition this autumn is our Ooty Stripe Wool Kilim Hexagonal Trunk, a comfy perch that has an opening box below a padded hinged seat, perfect for storage.  Made with a solid mango frame this trunk is strong and durable with a hardwearing Kilim finish.

Kilims are flat woven rugs made with a combination of jute, wool and cotton.  The origins of kilim rugs are unknown but there are different examples of these rugs across most of Asia and the Balkans with the earliest date back to the fourth or fifth century.  Being flat woven, kilims differ in appearance to the traditional pile that we are used to seeing in carpets and wool rugs.  For this reason they are quite thin, but due to the closeness of the weave and quality of materials, make for very durable floor coverings and hard wearing soft furnishings. The majority of our Kilim range is made from 80% wool and 20% cotton, which gives a slightly softer finish than using jute.

This autumn we have also introduced six new Kilim rugs in varying different designs and styles including the Patchwork Kilim; available in three colours, Arunchal Stripe KilimLadakh Kilim, Ajanta Kilim, Varkala Kilim and our bright and colourful Alwar Kilim. Coordinating cushions are also available for most of our new kilim rugs.
